Standing out, finding classes, being shoved in a locker, getting lost, finding friends, being picked on by upperclassmen, are all fears that many freshmen have coming into high school.  Many freshmen walk into school on that very first day scared to death, but is freshman year really that bad?

Freshman Dylan Putman said his biggest fear on the first day of school was finding all of his classes.  Putman said, “I was nervous at first, but after my first class I felt fine.”  He realized that after a few weeks of being a freshman it is not so bad.

Freshman Keighana Thomas said her biggest fear of being a freshman was finding her friends on the first day at lunch.  Thomas realized that being a freshman is not so bad; she enjoys having more freedom and more people to communicate to with.

Although being a freshman may seem like the scariest time of your life, it really is not. You will have many scary moments in your life. Many people find their senior year being just as scary, it is the start of a whole new life.

Senior Alec Gorman said he remembers his freshman year and he was so scared that he did not even want to be here.  Now that he is senior, he has fears of graduating and finding a new job.  Gorman wants all freshmen to “focus more on education and not so much on relationships.”

Senior Joaquin Robles said when he was a freshman his biggest fear was standing out and getting lost.  Now that Robles is a senior, his biggest fear is planning his future.  Robles wants all freshman, “to stick around” and know that “high school does get better.”

Math teacher Allison Darling looked back at her freshman year in high school, and she was terrified of being the only clueless person and trying to fit in.  She saw many movies about freshmen, which made it seem awful, but looking back she realized that it is just another part of growing up.
